FILA Trials

An eventful day.

Kafui opened the day for the club beating James Mannon on points - in Kafui's description "I got mount and then he just couldn't do anything."

Lisa's first fight was with Rachel McLough, Lisa scored 7 points before catching the head and arm choke from mount and finishing - she says Ian will be pleased

Paul was then supposed to fight James Mannon but he'd left (there was originally 7 in the division but 4 never showed) this left Paul with no-one to fight

Lisa then fought Diane Berry and took a 4-0 points victory.

Paul and Kafui tossed a coin for gold - Kafui won

So unfortunately Paul never got a fight but Kafui and Lisa were both crowned British Champs.

New shirts and inclub comp

Just a reminder guys, like Dave mentioned in class Marc has new shirts on the way.. a few details about them, They are made from organic cotton with Marc's traditional BJJ Yin-Yang symbol in the center of the chest with DNA strands coming out either side and 'Brazilian Jiu Jitsu' written through the middle. On the back is a silhouette of 2 people grappling.. Need to let Dave know ASAP if you want one.

Secondly, Marc is also organising a new inclub competition which will include his club, Daves, Paul Bridges, Adam Edwards and Spencer Hewitt's too, promises to be a mint event with some pretty interesting fights. Head down if you can to support both Dave and Marc, numbers are again needed ASAP for the comp end of Oct (exact date tbc).

For either shirts or comp leave a comment here, see Dave or email in and I'll pass it on.

Competition weekend

Good luck to Kafui, Paul and Lisa who are competing at the FILA trials and Gi comp on Sunday.. They are all looking mint for fighting now (apart from Kafui looking horrified at what time he has to get up on Sunday). Will post results on Sunday when I have them.

Wednesdays training

Don't normally do posts just for the 'warmups' but last nights is worth a post.. We did:

25 squats
25 pushups
50 box jumps

As many rounds as possible in 20 minutes.

Seems simple doesn't it? - I think everyone will agree it was just pure bloody pain, but great nonetheless! Sorry no pictures though, none of us had time and I think the heat we were putting out would have killed any camera anyway...

Marcs new t-shirts

Marc has some new shirts available soon, they are going to cost £20 and Dave needs to know the sizes of those who want them.. Money needs to be paid up front

Any questions give Dave a shout in class

Speedys Saturday torture session..

Normally Saturday has quite a lazy start to the session but today Dave decided to torture both Davey and Steve with that workout we all love/hate ... Tabata.

They did 8x rounds (20secs work / 10secs rest) of each exercise - squats, alternating pressups, situps and burpees

The last round of burpees...

Toughing it out round 8 of the burpees..

Davey recovering after the workout...

You can guess what Steve is doing here...
