Bills fight!

Well for those that don't already know (won't be many of you) Bill won his first pro fight via G n P in round 2 with some devastating elbows. I can't do it justice by describing it.. you had to be there but it was an awesome fight.. Bill took some good shots but showed incredible heart to pull through and win.

He also got a good old Bill-style slam (even better if the dude hadn't grabbed the ropes) which got a nice big cheer.. Think I can speak for everyone there when I say he did himself and everyone else proud, enjoy your time off Bill!

Northern Open

The date of the Northern open is confirmed as Saturday 6th December in Sheffield, same venue as the 2006 Northern Open. There were quite a few people who seemed interested in this so hopefully will be another big team trip out.

Jimmy - Absolute hero

Just a quick reminder to everyone there is no training on tonight, Dave is traveling down to Marcs and the rest of us are resting for the comp tomorrow.

All in all, there is 17 of us going so I can't remember each person but good luck to everyone is going!

Oh yeah, that means no training tomorrow either!

Bill fighting on Sunday

It's almost here, Bills having his first pro fight at Strike and Submit this Sunday, tickets are now all gone.. have been for a while, but theres a few people going. Not going to wish him luck cos he doesn't need luck!

Northern Open - 6th December??

I know a few people have been asking about the dates for this, there is a post from Jude who organises it on the cagewarriors forums:

December 6th.
Its gi and no gi, kids and amateur MMA!!!
Venue Sheffield!"

so its looks like it will be the first weekend in December, I am sure some one will put details up for every one once this is confirmed.

Not BJJ but still...

After Dave and Simon were chatting about Arturo 'Thunder' Gatti the other night I decided to hunt around a bit on the net found this little highlight... the text is a bit annoying but the little bit video we get shows how much heart this boxer has, he just wont go down.

No training on Friday or Saturday

With Marc Walders inclub competition coming up on Saturday, Dave is travelling down on Friday night so there won't be any class on Friday or Saturday.

Wednesday and Thursday still as normal though.

Lee got caught..

Marcs comp - change of schedule

As Dave mentioned in class Monday and last night, the time for Marcs comp is still the same at 11am start time. But before the comp starts Marc is running a 'competition workshop' which is basically a free seminar.. Not sure how long it runs or when comp starts but should promise to be useful!

Roger Gracie: master of escapes

Dave and Neil were talking about Roger Gracie this week and Dave mentioned one of the reasons Roger does so well is that he is really hard to submit. This highlight is a great example and is a good reminder to work on your escapes and not to give up hope if you end up in a poor position.

New blue belt

Well, kind of... Kafui got his blue belt a couple of weeks back from Dave, but we've been waiting until he got his nice shiney new Gameness belt through the mail before we took a pic.. so here he is looking pleased with himself. Well done Kafui :)
